Namdapha National Park

Area
Namdapha National Park is one of the two largest rainforests in India at 2,000 sq km, a whopper compared to that other iconic rainforest of the south, Silent Valley, which measures only about 90 sq km. Namdapha undulates eastwards into Myanmar as Hukaung Valley Wildlife Sanctuary (21,000 sq km), the world's largest tiger reserve.

Getting There
It takes a while to get to Namdapha. First, get yourself to Dibrugarh, from where you head to Miao (the main town near the National Park).

By Air
Air Sahara flies from Delhi via Guwahati to Dibrugarh's Mohanbari Airport. Indian also flies to Dibrugarh, via Kolkata, .

By Train
The Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani leaves Delhi at 2pm and arrives in Dibrugarh at 5am on the third day. From Kolkata, the Kamrup Express leaves at 5.35pm and arrives Dibrugarh at 6.30am .

sBy Bus
There are several overnight buses from Guwahati which leave in the afternoon/ early evening, and reach Jagun (Assam) the next morning. Since the bus service to Miao is sporadic, hire a taxi from jagun. Dibrugarh is about 160km/4hr from Miao. Buses run erratically between the towns; it's best to take a taxi . From Miao, you have to make your way to Deban, the entry point to Namdapha National Park. You can drive part of the distance-about 10km up to the M'pen checkpost. From here, it's an 18km walk to Deban. At the time of writing the bridge had washed away with no information on when it will be rebuilt. Hire porters at Miao.
